Amit Yarashi January 29, 2013 at 8:19 am: This blog really deserves more social shares than it has got. I was really able to know lot more ways of link building and especially free submissions is what makes me kick my ass and get started. My suggestion for you would be to move the social sharing icons on your blog to the top or else have it on the left as a floating bar.

Thanks for the list, Peter. Do you know of a software that you can use to help with directory submission? Or is going to each site the best way to do this? Thanks again.

Although the best way is to submit to each directory manually, directories pass so little juice, that the time involved isn’t worth it.

I suggest using directory submission services like https://www.wlmarketing.com/ – It’s automated, so the quality is down, but you can get several thousand directory submissions quickly and cheap.

Also, you should provide several different descriptions/anchors so that you still retain some variance. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi Peter, thanks for a big list. I use about 15 social bookmarking sites. If I submit my links to sites in your list, do I obtain benefit strongly ?

Peter Attia April 20, 2012 at 2:39 pm: Hey Gökay, I would submit to the top 15-20 social bookmarks manually as you’re doing. There is some benefit to submitting to more, but I would only do it manually if you have extra time or an intern to dump the work on 🙂

Otherwise, I would just go through a directory submission service. It saves you a ton of time and they’re pretty cheap.

Hi Peter,

Amazing in-depth list of sites. How does using the bulk submission services you’ve suggested conflict with Googles’ dislike of a site building links too quickly. We have about 300 links to the home page and would prefer to concentrate on the in sub-domain pages, would it be a good idea to use the bulk process for this?

I’ve never seen any issues with getting vast amounts of directories in a couple days. One thing you have to think about before submitting a subdomain to directories, is that most directories are homepage only and won’t allow deep pages.

Also, keep in mind that directories really don’t do much in the first place. They should really only be used for targeting easy to rank for terms.

Peter, thanks for sharing this precious information.

I still think, however, that only 10-15 directories are worth the effort in terms of SEO. I wouldn’t recommend auto-submitting!

Directories are hardly worth anything as is. If you want to keep it squeaky clean, then yeah, I would just do the top 10-20 directories.

However, I’ve never seen any negative effects to auto submitting directories.
